  Bryan?
WOW!! If you missed the October meeting all I can say is you missed a truly great presentation. Mike Casten came and talked about Production Management instead of Project Management. Mike shared simple concepts that were very powerfully. The root of the issue is to remember that a owner pays for a final product! How you get to the final product and how much it cost to get it to that point is up to you. Also the concept of the "Work Face" was eye opening for me. The fact no matter what an organization has as support, or admin or management the rubber meets the road at the "work face". Again simple concepts but very powerfully.

We have an exciting Panel discussions setup for November and you do not want to miss it. These panel discussions are always a get open forum that gets people steamed, heart racing and minds thinking. Also we will have the A&T students at the meeting and they will be at the Tech Topic to glen knowledge from us to help them on their projects. It should be a lot of fun. Remember it is the 4th Tuesday which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Get the Christmas party on your schedule and to all of our benefactors please be generous in your donations for our Auction.

Again I would like to thank all of our Board of Governors and committee chairs and co-chairs for all of their work. See you at the meeting!

Chapter Technology Transfer
by Bryan Holcomb, Kevin Bengel and Reggie Lee   CTT
Time is flying by, and so are all of our meeting and special events. We just completed our first Refrigeration Tour at Natty Greene's Pub & Brewery. The turnout wasn't the best that we have had, but it was a very interesting tour. We are working on the next refrigeration tour and will let the word out when scheduled.

I would also like to thank everyone that has help in setting up our meetings at the new and improved downtown location. It has been a work in progress but all members have done a great job in supporting the new location.

Bryan Holcomb (CTT & Chapter Programs), Reggie Lee (Refrigeration), and Kevin Bengel (Technical, Energy, and Government Activities-TEGA) make up the North Piedmont Chapter Technology Transfer (CTT) Committee. One function of the CTT Committee is to "coordinate dissemination of technical information in the chapter's geographical area". That means we're planning Programs, seminars, workshops, and tours.

Further your ASHRAE knowledge with the following Insights.........

Membership Promotion
by Kevin Heywood   Membership
Our October meeting was another successful night for membersip. I received two more applications for membership. Let’s keep on this role for the November meeting and invite as many guests as possible to come to this meeting. Be sure to invite people who may be outside the HVAC industry but are interested in what we do, i.e., Architects, Building Owners, etc.

As always, we strive to have Positive Membership Growth. The key to this is Positive Net Growth is to have everyone renew their membership. In the next month I will be posting a list of the members who are delinquent. Please logon to the ASHRAE website and renew your membership has soon as possible.

If there is anyone you know that might be interested in joining ASHRAE please have them call me. Kevin Heywood 336-292-8777

Student Activities
by Tony Palozzolo   Student Activities
It is getting close to the Christmas break for students, but the NCA&T Students have at least one more presentation to give. Please everyone come out to the tech topic at the November meeting to see and support the A&T Students with there class presentation. They are looking for our support and to assist them with this project.

If you have had an opportunity to speak to youngsters about HVAC and our industry through Boy Scouts, teach-ins, or other contacts, please contact Bryan Holcomb or Bryan Lamply so we can count up the points!! Each session adds 25 points in our hunt for the Golden Apple award!

As always, we will be looking for individuals to help in the beginning of 2007 to assist with the education and teaching of high school students about engineering and ASHARE. If you can help please let us know.
