  Bryan?
HAPPY NEW YEAR. First off may I say that I hope that your 2006 was great and that your 2007 will be even better!

I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to make our 2006 Christmas Party a great success. Special thanks must go out to Waylon Ethridge, Robert Bouknight, and Bryan Holcomb for the hours setting up, planning, buying the supplies and coordinating the party. Great Job guys!

We are bringing value to your membership dollars early this year by kicking off the new year with a seminar on the new Master Format. This will be brought to us by our very own Chuck Gulledge an ASHRAE Distinguished lecturer. We are having a very special meeting price and hope to see everyone there.

Business is better than it has been in years and with everyone running so hard it is easy to make excuses about how you do not have time to invest in ASHRAE. We have several events that take no more than an hour of your time that will help in student membership. Education of Math and Science is of up most importance and we are looking for volunteers to do several community outreach items associated with Math Counts and with Engineers week. If you want to be involved then please drop me an e-mail and if someone ask you to be involved please donate a little time and show the community that our Society is serious about helping society. North Piedmont has decided to not only help with the manning of Math Counts but also we have helped finally support this worth while cause. Math Counts is a program run by the North Carolina Professional Engineers Education Committee and helps bring additional attention to the sciences.

Have agreat new year and see you January 24th at the Brady Trane facility on North Church Street at 12 noon. Lunch will be provided. Bryan Lampley

Chapter Technology Transfer
by Bryan Holcomb, Kevin Bengel and Reggie Lee   CTT
We are close to the halfway point and CTTC has had a very successful year so far. Please take the time to complete a handbook review and let us know of any interesting installations we can submit for Technology awards.

Bryan Holcomb (CTT & Chapter Programs), Reggie Lee (Refrigeration), and Kevin Bingel (Technical, Energy, and Government Activities-TEGA) make up the North Piedmont Chapter Technology Transfer (CTT) Committee. One function of the CTT Committee is to "coordinate dissemination of technical information in the chapter's geographical area". That means we're planning Programs, seminars, workshops, and tours.

Further your ASHRAE knowledge with the following Insights.........

History
by Morgan Jones   History
The birthplace of Ammonia- compression “Refer” Refrigeration plant in the United States is Jefferson, Texas. David Boyle established his first ammonia-compression plant in a lean-to off a lumber mill in 1873. He later made arrangements with Crane and Company of Chicago to manufacture his compression machines.

Membership Promotion
by Kevin Heywood   Membership
Thanks to everyone who helped out with putting together the December meeting/Christmas party. I would also like to thank the new members that joined us. Let’s try to invite as many guests as possible to come to our January meeting. Be sure to invite people who may be outside the HVAC industry but are interested in what we do, i.e., Architects, Building Owners, etc.

As always, we strive to have Positive Membership Growth. The key to this is Positive Net Growth is to have everyone renew their membership. In the next month I will be posting a list of the members who are delinquent. Please logon to the ASHRAE website and renew your membership has soon as possible.

If there is anyone you know that might be interested in joining ASHRAE please have them call me. Kevin Heywood 336-292-8777

Research Promotion
by Waylon Ethridge   Research
The Christmas party was a huge success for ASHRAE resource promotion. After the dust settled, we were able to send a check to ASHRAE research for over $10,000!

Thanks to all of the North Piedmont member and corporate sponsors that continue to help the North Piedmont chapter remain one of the top chapters in the world when comparing resource dollars donated per member.

I would like to thank all the Platinum Sponsors that have helped us get the year started. Our goal for 2006-2007 year is $26,000. We are well on our way there!
