Well gentlemen we are in the short rows now!
Typically when the days are longer it is
harder to make the time to go to the meeting.
Let me tell you, you need to make time this
year. Bryan Holcomb has back loaded the year
and two of our best meetings are coming.
This month we will welcome Society President
Terry Townsend and next month we will have
distinguished lecturer Mark Nunly.
Terry Townsend is the Society President and I
think that it is worth noting that we at
North Piedmont may take it for granted that
the President comes to one of our meetings.
Remember that there are hundreds of chapters
and only a few weeks in the year that the
president can travel so he only gets to visit
a select amount of chapters. Let me put it
another way. THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!! We are
very fortunate to have the president come to
our meeting. I have not seen his
presentation but it is supposed to be
Dynamic. This is a great opportunity to meet
someone who is in charge of the leading
organization in our field do not miss this we
want to be struggling to find room to put
everyone.
We are continuing to bring value to your
membership
dollars with this months meeting. Gerry
Chapman
Esq. is a lawyer that specializes in
immigration
law. Any trip to a construction site will
confirm
that this is an issue that we all need to be
aware
of proposed changes and what we need to
do to
protect your intrust.
It is always very important to inform us when
you are planning on attending but it is
double so for this meeting because we are
expecting a large crowd so please email us
your intentions for making this meeting.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of
our officers and tell them great job and keep
up the good work we only have a little ways
farther to go.

Chapter Technology Transfer |
|
|
by Bryan Holcomb, Kevin Bengel and Reggie Lee
|
|
We are closing in on the end of they year,
and we
need to finish on a high note. Please take the
time
to complete a handbook review and let us
know of
any interesting installations we can submit
for
Technology awards.
As you will see, we have ASHRAE President,
Mr. Terry
Townsend visiting the N. Piedmont Chapter
and we
need for everyone to attend this meeting. Dr.
Sing and
NCA&T have already committed to have 40
students at
this meeting. We need to exceed those
numbers.
Bryan Holcomb (CTT & Chapter Programs),
Reggie
Lee
(Refrigeration), and Kevin Bengel (Technical,
Energy,
and Government Activities-TEGA) make up
the North
Piedmont Chapter Technology Transfer
(CTT)
Committee. One function of the CTT
Committee is
to "coordinate dissemination of technical
information
in the chapter's geographical area". That
means
we're
planning Programs, seminars, workshops,
and tours.

Air Conditioning in the South
“Air conditioning has affected almost every level of
Southern Life,” says Raymond Arsenault, a history
professor at the University of South Florida. Bill Ferris,
Center for the Study of Southern Culture at University
of Mississippi said that “Air conditioning and the
bulldozer are the two major symbols of the 20th-
centuty South.”

Membership Promotion |
|
|
by Kevin Heywood
|
|
Membership is having a strong year. We have and
handful of new members and most of our existing
members have paid their dues. Let’s try to invite as
many guests as possible to come to our March
meeting. Be sure to invite people who may be outside
the HVAC industry but are interested in what we do,
i.e., Architects, Building Owners, etc.
As always, we strive to have Positive
Membership
Growth. The key to this is Positive Net
Growth is to
have everyone renew their membership. In
the next
month I will be posting a list of the members
who are
delinquent. Please logon to the ASHRAE
website and
renew your membership has soon as
possible.
If there is anyone you know that might be
interested
in joining ASHRAE please have them call
me. Kevin

Research Promotion |
|
|
by Waylon Ethridge
|
|
We have already exceeded our Research goal set for
us this year.....$25,000.00. But, last year we raised
over $31,000.00 which leaves work to be done. We
need a LARGE turnout for the Spring Golf Outing! Mark
your calendars for WEDNESDAY, MAY 9th. I will
forward the details soon.
Thanks to all of the North Piedmont member
and
corporate sponsors that continue to help the
North
Piedmont chapter remain one of the top
chapters in
the world when comparing resource dollars
donated
per member.
